ORANGE COUNTY DOCENT LEAGUE
Here is a brief description of the Orange County Docent League (A regional Docent Organization). Sharing ideas and Learning from one another. The Orange County docent League formed in 1999. The member organizations represent arts, sciences, history, transportation, flora or fauna.

OCDL has grown from five member organizations to 32 and each event gains
even more members. The interactions at these events breaks barriers between professional staff and volunteers, fosters cooperation rather than competition among local venues and results in heightened energy through the sharing of successes.

The OCDL provides a forum that enables non-profit organizations to host biannual events which are planned, held and hosted by volunteer/docent groups. These league seminars begin at 9:30a.m. and run until 2:00p.m. They generally encompass continental breakfast, speakers, skits, luncheon, break-out and panel discussions and site tours.

The OCDL is guided by a volunteer Steering Committee(SC) consisting of officers and representatives from member organizations. The SC has the purpose of fulfilling the mission of the OCDL by establishing and maintaining formats by which future events can occur.
Advantages to local organizations to join the OCDL league include participation in the events, advance notices of upcoming events and enhanced communications through the OCDL.
Many organization in OC have shared their site by hosting an event. The last one was at the Costa Mesa Historical Museum and Diego Sepulveda Adobe.
We have also been hosted by the Santa Ana Old County Courthouse, Helena Modjeska House and Gardens, Bowers Museum, Newport Art Museum, Museum of Latin American Arts, OC Performing Arts Center, Muckenthaler Cultural Center, Casa Romantica, San Juan Capistrano Mission & Historic Rios Street, Anaheim Muzeo Museum, Nixon Presidential Library, Moulton Museum etc.
We welcome you to come and learn more about the league and see if we can plan another opportunity for Docents to gather and learn from one another. Our next event will be at held in Spring and Fall of 2022.
